Another successful NFC trial in the Principality of Monaco |
|

|
On Monday 1st December 2008, over 150 key figures involved in the development of NFC technology met at the New National Museum of Monaco (Nouveau Musée national de Monaco) to witness a second NFC trial.
Organised by the WIMA team, the trial was watched by local print, television and Internet journalists as well as the project’s partners – the Monaco Government Tourist and Convention Authority, NOKIA, NXP Semiconductors, the New National Museum of Monaco and Enamax. Everyone present remarked on the success of the trial.

This second trial was more advanced than the first, giving all NOKIA 6212 NFC mobile telephone users an easy way of gaining access to additional information – written documents, photographs, audio files and video clips – about works of art on display at the museum, simply by placing their telephones near a strategically placed ‘tag’.

Laurent Puons, WIMA’s General Manager, brought a number of key local businesses together for the event, with representatives from the Société des Bains de Mer, the Grimaldi Forum, the Monaco Public Parking Service, Compagnie des Autobus de Monaco and Monaco Telecom attending. Each organisation expressed an interest in developing NFC technology as a central part of their work.
As Laurent Puons commented, ‘the uses to which NFC technology can be put - like the services NFC technology provides - are limitless. I would like to invite you to our next WIMA event, from the 22nd to the 24th April 2009, to witness further NFC trials.’
